Quality in Marker Making: Accuracy, Completeness, Knife Path
Marker quality comes down to three things: accurate data and lines, no missing pieces, and a cuttable knife path. Cutters and sewers process parts off the marker, so any error here multiplies downstream. Here's what a high-quality marker requires.
1. Accuracy of data and lines
Each piece needs complete, precise information: size, style number, and piece name/number. Lines must be accurate, consistent, fine, smooth, and a precise image of the production pattern. CAD markers are more precise and eliminate hand-drawn mistakes: lines are always consistent, pieces are never omitted, and everything stays on grain and facing the right direction unless overridden. The time savings make CAD a sound investment.
A caution on fabric-saving tricks: pieces may be slightly overlapped or corners rounded to conserve fabric, but these economies often cause trouble when operators try to align two matching pieces for sewing.
