Cut Order Planning: From Customer Order to Cutting Orders
Cut order planning is the step that turns a customer order into cutting orders, the instructions that direct marker planning and lay planning. Its job is to coordinate the customer's requirements with every variable of marker making, spreading, and cutting to minimise total production cost and deliver on time, making the most effective use of labour, equipment, fabric, and space.
Responsibilities
Cut order planning owns:
- Examining incoming orders
- Determining volume and size ratios, and selecting the marker-making procedure
- Deciding whether file markers exist or new ones are needed
- Writing specifications for optimum marker making and fabric utilization
- Planning more effective use of spreading/cutting equipment and personnel
- Issuing the orders for marker making, spreading, and cutting
