Cutting Room Organogram: Who Reports to Whom
An organogram is an organisation chart, it shows the reporting lines of a department. The cutting room, as the factory's feeding point, needs a clear hierarchy so that spreading, cutting, marking, and bundling flow without confusion. Below is a representative cutting-room structure. (Exact titles and spans vary by factory size.)
The typical structure
| Level | Role | Responsibility |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Cutting Manager | Owns cutting-room output, planning, cost, and quality; reports to production/factory management |
| 2 | Cutting In-charge / Supervisor(s) | Run the floor shift-to-shift; assign lays, control WIP |
| 3a | Spreaders (spreading operators) | Lay fabric to marker length and ply count |
| 3b | Cutters (cutting operators) | Cut the lay to the marker with knife/computerised cutter |
| 3c | Numbering operators | Ticket plies so same-layer parts stay together |
| 3d | Bundling operators | Sort, tie, and ticket bundles for the sewing line |
| Parallel | Cutting QC / Quality checkers | Inspect spread and cut quality; usually a dotted line to the QA function |
